SC is currently rebuilding my site and one feature we have included is the Click to Enlarge for images. My question is this, is it possible to setup my home page to load by displaying a Click to Enlarge image? If possible how is this done from the editor?
Okay you are thinking, this guy is crazy but here is what I am after. When we go on vacation (seldom happens) orders placed through our webstore are not processed for a couple of days. I would like the ability to let our customers know that orders placed from "data" to "date" will not be processed until "date". The Click to Enlarge feature grays the page and requires the shopper to close the image window so it would be hard to miss this message. This would allow customers to still purchase knowing their order will not process or ship until a specific date. I experienced this exact scenario first hand when I was making an online purchase at another store and thought it was a good customer care idea. Thanks John |

John -
you might want to take a look at something I have to alert customers of something. SC did this to mine a few months ago. Go to my website, try and order gold chocolate quarters, put into cart.. see what happens when you go to check out then. I think this is what you are looking for. Yours could be tweeked to give your away for now shipping notice etc! BTW - how the heck can you pull off not getting back to your customers for such a long period of time. Have you ever charted your conversions while you were away compared to when your there. I think you're taking a big risk they will get nervous and shop elsewhere! I know I would! Just my thoughts! I've attached an image of exactly what I am seeking to accomplish.
I just discovered that if you open an attachment in this forum it also does the exact same thing I am after. Well the difference is I would like it to occur upon accessing the site. Last edited by John07; 07-17-2008 at 08:19 PM. |

John,
Instead of using the lightbox that you are referring to in your post - just post a banner, maybe on the bottom of the page or top of your customer service page letting your customers know you are closed for x days and will process orders when you return. I agree with Pam - by drawing their attention to the fact that you are "internet only" and closed would make most customers run to your competitors! Another idea would be, to set up your email system to send an email, that your order would be processed in x days (when you return) this would not be waving the red flag that you are closed for business. FYI - before I opened a retail store I did the banner on the site, letting customers know when I was away and also did the email letting them know, most customers were VERY understanding and not many canceled orders this way -- just my thoughts...
