I learned that there is no single SEO technique that should be applied to a site. You should implement a combination of methods (i.e. link building, directory and article submissions) to be able to have your site crawled and indexed.

Its not the best method but the relevancy of back links that you are getting. What counts most is the quality. Google gives more value on the quality compared to those irrelevant sites that you are getting.

Just like what thirdisa said, there's no single best SEO technique. You gotta learn some of the easiest part and use them together to get more traffic to your site. There's no best SEO tech, but there's surely an easier tech for you.

I think the most 2 effective channels for page ranking might be social bookmarking and blogging.

I can say that the best methods that you can use in SEO are the blog commenting, Forum posting through signature linking. These services can drive more traffics to your site. It is a good way in promoting also your site.

Page level relevant Keywords, Titles, and proper Descriptions, will always prevail long term over all other methods, these are tried and true since the 1990's and still hold their value today.
