i hope you don't feel like i'm bugging......but what about a pop up when a customer leaves the cart, shipping or billing page......nothing that would be annoying....something small....where you can say "are you sure you want to leave your cart"...or offer a coupon code if they continue with the buy right then....i don't think people would find that intrusive....something people could click out of with ease if they wanted to...thoughts?

Hey Vance,
SC programed a pop up into my Yahoo store, it's not stating what you mentioned here, but it's a pop up that is connected to any product they put in their cart that is perishable. After the customer places it in their cart, and they review their cart and click continue to buy, the pop up window appears warning them some of the items in their cart can melt, so maybe they could switch it around and have it do what you want. I worked with Matt K and the programers on this. It's been a huge help for us. I can control it for any product, turn off or on and I can change the message/picture to anything I want it to say. Hi Vance,
That's a great idea, if the client isn't going to buy the product it wouldn't hurt to test out some messages making sure they want to leave...Although i would avoid the coupon code/incentive as it would instill some bad habits to life time customers (such as them closing the cart before buying to see if they can score a deal) On another note if your looking to find out why they are abandoning the cart i would recommend trying 4Q. 4Q, an Avinash Kaushik and iPerceptions collaboration - free simple survey solution It's a free questionaire that you can use to find out exactly why customers are leaving your site. |

i understand about the coupon thing.....i hate when customers wait for you to send out a coupon each month to buy from your site. with the pop up.....it would just be a "hey...u sure u want to leave"....i think it would help.....please let us know if you guys create something like this......you could even have a "are you sure you want to leave" then you could have a little questionnaire on there....that they could opt out of if they want.....it does not hurt to ask for feedback! thanks again!

There's a 3rd party company that does this. It's called UpSellit.com - Live Chat, New Technology for an Evolving Internet. There are things I like about it and things I don't like. One cool thing is you pay them like you pay an affiliate - they only get money if there technology closes the sale for you.
