Useful tip when Marketing to UK Customers

I hope I will not be teaching my grandmother to suck eggs here, but I thought you might be interested in a Trend going on amongst consumers and businesses in the United Kingdom.

Customers/Businesses/Suppliers are getting ANGRY with companies who use Non Geographic Telephone numbers as the main way to contact a Business. For example many businesses use the following types of Telephone Numbers as their main point of contact.:

0800 (Toll Free) Freephone
0845 Local Rate
0844 Fixed Rate
0870 National Rate
0871 National Rate
070 Personal Numbers

Without exception these types of numbers are extremely expensive to call from Mobile/Cell phones.

They are also extremely unreliable when called from outside the UK.

They are also very expensive to call from Landlines (except 0800)

Many companies are now switching back to old fashioned Geographic Telephone Numbers (these numbers start 01 or 02 in the United Kingdom) for example 020 Telephone Numbers for London or 0161 numbers for Manchester.

Geographic numbers have many advantages:

1. They can be called from anywhere in the world.
2. They can be called very cheaply/free from Mobile/Cell phones
3. They are FREE to call from many UK Landlines

You can now buy UK Geographic Telephone Numbers and divert them anywhere in the World from just 1.5 pence per minute.
