HELP!
I have two URLs with GoDaddy: "www.safeandcozypet.com" and "www.safeandcozypets.com". My Yahoo store was set up using the first url, safeandcozypet.com. When I had Solid Cactus create my logo and revamp my site, we decided to go with safeandcozypets.com. That is when I got the second URL. I have been trying for months to get that url to link customers to my site. This is maoking me crazy. Does anybody know how to do this correctly. I have tried to get help from Yahoo, GoDaddy and Solid Cactus. Everyone tells me something different and so far I have not been successful. My goal is to keep both urls and have both link directly to my site. Please help! ![]()

Hey there! The reason you're getting different answers is because it depends on exactly how you're trying to do this. There are many variables, like whether you have a dedicated or shared hosting, are you simply wanting to redirect your domain, or mask the address in the address bar as well, etc, etc.
I just saw your post now, so I wanted to get a quick replay in for you, but I need to talk to one of my coworkers who has more experience with DNS than I do. But for now, just know Ill get you the answer as soon as I can, probably tomorrow. Until then, here's what I know: Your CNAME for safeandcozypet.com is pointing to stores.yahoo.net. That's probably all you need to do for your safeandcozypets.com as well - but I just want to check to see if there's any other changes you need to make. In any case, it looks like your dns is set up to be done on yahoo's end, not godaddy's. That just means that your domains are with godaddy, but yahoo does the DNS - which means you will put in your CNAME entry at yahoo not at goDaddy. It can all be confusing, especially if you don't do it every day, dozens of times per day. Like I said, I even want to check with a coworker to make sure we get you simple, straight forward and complete instructions. Anyway, sit tight. We'll get you going in a jiffy!

Just to follow up....
I spoke with two coworkers. Both seem to agree with what I said here. However, one seems to think Yahoo! charges any time you have a domain outside, but use their nameservers for advanced DNS records. One coworker has emailed Yahoo! about this to get the exact process, and is hoping for specific instructions which we could then email to you. At this point, I believe, if you wanted to poke around in your Yahoo! control panel, you should be able to find the place where you enter the CNAME record you need. Now, I just double checked, and your www.safeandcozypets.com is using Yahoo! Nameservers. So, this is absolutely where you need to put in yuor CNAME record. It should point to stores.yahoo.net. There is no question about this part. The only remaining questions are, exactly where this functionality is in your control panel on your Yahoo! account, and whether or not they charge for the ability to point your outside domain to your Yahoo! store. As I said, I am working to get more detailed information for you. Listen, I am sorry it's making you crazy, as you said, trying to get this done. I can definately understand that, considering you have been at this for months now. Rest assured, I am trying to get the exact information you need. Let me know if this is helping so far, or if there are any other questions we can answer here. I am interested in getting you up and running, number one, and also in having this information so we can make it available for everyone else as well.

Hey, really sorry about the delay. A coworker had emailed Yahoo! to try to get some documentation on doing this, since it is supposed to be possible in your control panel. I checked back in with him, and he said there is no documentation per se, but that people who don't see the option in their account can call Yahoo! and they will set it up. He was also going to send me the number to call, but I have not gotten it yet. I will check with him today about the number.
I can imagine your frustration about this being such a long process, and I would feel the same if I were you. When I get the number, I will go over the steps with him again, and I will also see if there is any way to confirm this info with Yahoo as well. **EDIT*** Meanwhile, I see that both domains are on Yahoo nameservers, but safeandcozypets.com doesn't have a CNAME record, while your other domain, safeandcozypet.com, does have the CNAME record entries (without quotes): "www.safeandcozypet.com" CNAME stores.yahoo.net. stores.yahoo.net CNAME html.store.yahoo7.akadns.net. Im not sure you need both of those in there - it would seem you would only need the first one. In either case, you can try the instructions here: Advanced DNS Settings Specifically, the 'How do I set a CNAME record" link: How do I set a CNAME record? - Yahoo! Small Business Help Advanced DNS records like these typically take 2-3 hours for you to see the changes. Try adding the first, wait a day, then try the second. Finally, you may also need the A record like your other domain has - check that for the one that's working, and copy the info and check to see it the one that's not working has it or not. As I said, I will still get that number for you and post here when I do. Good luck

Here's the small business support number:
(800) 318-0790 There should be no reason why they can't look at your one domain that's working, and make it happen for your other domain. You're on Yahoo's NameServers for both, so it is all controlled from that control panel. If for some reason they don't help, or you can't figure out how to do what they're asking, post back here. Ill make some time to get with you and we'll get this set up together.

Hey, just checking in - did you call Yahoo!? Did you try any of the things I found? Where do we stand?
Hopefully, things are working out. If not, like I said, we can get together and get this figured out. I just need to know a good time for you. Send me a private message if you want. Post here otherwise. Whatever comes of this, I want to post the details of how we get it working so others has this info.

Hey, I've been watching for a reply, but I haven't seen you back. Finally, today, I thought I would try and look up your two domains. Looks like they are both finally pointing to the same place. Congra6ulations!
Listen, I know it must have been a painful process for you to be trying so long to do this. I would definately be frustrated as well if I were in the same position, but I'm glad to see it's all finally worked out for you! If you have a minute, and you see this, would you mind perhaps posting how you finally got up and running, and whether you think there was something out of the ordinary that prevented you from getting this going sooner? I know it would be helpful to others in the future. So, did any of the advice I found help, or was it the link in your manager where you can have all your domains point to the same place, or??? What was it that finally got you going? At any rate, as I said, I'm sorry it took you so long to get up and running, and so many contacts aparently between us, and Yahoo, and everything else, but I hope I hope at least somewhat helpful or at least comforting in trying to get you some help, and Im definately glad to see you going with the plural of your domain, seeing as how you had your header designed for it!!!
