Default Adding No Follow Tags

Does anyone know how I can add the no follow tag (rel="nofollow") to my secondary page URLs (about us, privacy, etc.)? I called Yahoo and they said I need to update my CSS elements. I took a look but it’s not very clear as to what I need to do. I don’t know if this info is important, but I bought the ‘cross sell’ and ‘click to enlarge’ from Solid Cactus so I think I’m working off a custom template on my site (Buy Piano Lamps dot com).

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Ryan

You should be able to modify the header or footer links by going into the Variables menu in the Store Editor.

Hi Jeff - you can modify the text copy of the links in Variables, but you can't modify the html of the links. I need to modify the html so i can add the rel=nofollow tag to the end of the url of the links.

Ryan, I've consulted with our tech support department, and they've advised that you can make the links in question nofollow, but that you need to edit the RTML in order to do so.

Ryan,

Because the majority of your store templates are still using the default Yahoo! templates, the amount of control you can exercise is very limited. In order to change the HTML surrounding your Header/Footer links with your templates as-is, you would need to make modifications to the template itself in the RTML (essentially creating a custom template). Purchasing the programming time to have your header/footer easily modifiable is an option, but I would ultimately suggest the Yahoo! Store SEO package, which will result in custom templates that allow you that control but also a handful of other features beneficial for SEO (at only a marginal difference in cost to you). The SEO package will give you:

404 Page
Categorized Site Map
Dynamically Generated META Tags
Dynamically Generated Title Tags
Related Items
Multi-Breadcrumbs

Please let me know if you are interested and I'll have an Account Manager contact you with full details on this package; or if you know your Account Manager's contact information from your previous purchase, please feel free to give them a call or e-mail and they'll be glad to go over the details.

Also, if you have any additional questions, please feel free to ask and I'll be glad to help!!

[QUOTE=charisse090;4202]How about dofollow tags on url?

Great question. There are no dofollow tags out there because a search robot's default behavior when it encounters a link is to follow it. Dofollow is the standard and the nofollow attribute exists as an exception to it.
