Feedback needed

For me it's easier to read product descriptions when the sentences don't run across the full width of the page. So I am editing my descriptions to make them narrower. (I'm sure there's a tool for this, but I'm trying to keep add'l expenses down during our slow season.)

But now where I have narrowed the descriptions, the right side of the screen - at least on my monitor - seems to have a lot of blank space. So my questions are:

(1) How does this look on other people's monitors?

(2) If the page with the narrow description seems out of kilter or blank on the right side of the page, do you have suggestions to improve it?

You are right about the text stretching the length of the page being tough to read. This is especially true on the web where people tend to "scan" as opposed to reading every word.

Let address your questions below:

1. There is a significant amount of white space when I view the page on my monitor. I would suspect that it will appear this way for anyone using a moderately high resolution or a wide screen monitor.

The best way to determine the impact this will have would be to check your analytics and see what resolutions most of your visitors are using. Set your monitor to the top resolutions and see how it looks.

2. The white space can definitely be a waste of real-estate. The best/easiest solution to this that I can see would be to move the description up so it is directly right of the item image. This will fill the white space, limit the text line length, and move your cross sells up higher on the page.

The only con to this is that it may not work well for visitors with low resolutions. Again, this is probably a decision you would want to make by looking at your analytics. If the majority of your visitors are somehow still using 800 x 600 resolutions then this would probably not be recommended. If you only have 2 visitors a month that are using a resolution lower then 1024 x 768 then this may be an ideal solution.

Understanding the Google analytics seems a bit overwhelming. I use Solid Cactus for my search engine marketing. So would my account executive have access to the Google analytics for my site? Or do I need to do this myself?

If you gave your account manager access (username and password) to your Google Analytics account, then they would. I would contact your account manager and ask them to be sure. Do you have any specific questions about GA?

Sarah is right. You can grant us access to your Google Analytics account allowing us to review the information. In fact, we probably already have access. Give a shout to your account manager and they should be able give you some info on the Analytics.

Hi Berry,

I noticed you were having some questions regarding Google Analytics. If this was something you were interested in having installed it would be very beneficial. You are correct that once you gave me access to you GA, I interpret and use the information that analytics brings in to better optimize your ppc campaigns.
