Default Comments Please

Please take a few moments and look at my site Clear, Mesh and JanSport Superbreak Book Bags. I am thinking of kicking it up a level and would appreciate your comments!

Thanks,
Vince

Default Great site

Hey,

You site looks nice. I am sure some of the "real" web design gurus here will have some pointers for you. The first thing I would recommend is getting a toll-free number and displaying it more prominently on the site. I have one that is really inexpensive, I spend maybe $75 a year and I can control which of my phones it rings to.

As a side note, you live near me! I am over on Capshaw road. If you every think about adding monograms to your book bags, give me a call! Good luck! I will definitley have to remember you when I start buying book bags for school next fall!!

You have a nice clean shell on the homepage.. I like the pictures of the kids with bookbags, would suggest a slightly more prominent logo. In addition, the click to enlarge is a great feature that would keep your pictures on the same page, allow for more SEO functionality and it looks really professional.

I also think maybe taking the musical stuff and dividing that up on the left nav a little to look like sections... I'd have to look a little deeper at things, but so far, you really are off to a good start.

Vince I am sure there would be more detailed analysis done by someone but I really like what you did with pretty much basic template. It looks neat and the image used in header clearly conveys what your store is about. Sometimes people have good design but it's hard to tell what they are selling in the first 5 seconds you are on a website, but your site achieves that. It's a great start considering you are using default templates provided by yahoo but you definitely have to start looking towards branding and creating your own identity starting with a logo.

I agree with the previous posts, very good start with the default Yahoo template!

I would definitely put your phone number in header of your website, not the bottom of the homepage.

As far as "kicking it up a notch", I would ask opinions from school age kids and college students. As a college grad in 2007, I would pick a color scheme that a high school or college would have. My high school colors were red, white and blue, and my college colors were purple and white with gold. Make your website look fun!

Promotion will be key (examples: discount with valid college or school id, contests, etc).

An interactive website with good deals on school supplies will definitely draw students!

Hope this helps and again, great job so far!
