Default Hacker Safe

I am thinking about adding a security badge of some sort to my site. My main motivation is I think my site suffers from a lack of credibility. Our brand is not well known, etc...

I have looked into Hacker Safe and they seem to be okay.

Does anyone have any experience with them or any other company?

I feel somewhat confident with Yahoo security measures but would like to take it a step higher.

All the best,

Hans

Greetings, Hans!

Many people use the Hacker Safe logos. They are a well recognized brand. I can't really speak to whether they boost credibility. Personally, I would think so, but I don't have any data to back that up. Hopefully someone can offer more information on that. But I can say they are a well recognized brand that many people use.

Default what about verisign?

what about verisign?

i think they are more expensive......is it worth it?
do you really think it makes a difference having the verisign logo on your site?

i think they may offer a free trial....wonder if it's worth it

Hans,
I have both Yahoo Secure Shopping logo and Hacker Safe on my website.
We use to get calls when I had only the Yahoo secure logo showing asking us how secure we were. W have not had any calls about this anymore since adding the Hacker Safe.

Does it make a difference???? hmmmm... all I can say is the phone calls about how secure we were stopped. I actually think if Yahoo did a better looking, more in your face "Secure Logo", like the one Hacker Safe has, people would relax a little and accept the Yahoo one as a secure website

If you have a Yahoo store and the right to use their "Secure Logo" thing... I'd make it BIG and were the customer can see it right off the bat, not on the bottom.
I feel Yahoo logo choices are lame... “Wimpy” … Hacker Safe is noticed right away, Yahoo’s needs a redo! I think they designed them long ago before people were really wise to all the fraud and hacking issues.
I use to think having the word "HACKER" on my website would scare people... possibly making them think “oh has this store been hacked into before so now they need this", but I was wrong. Hacker Safe did a good job with the look of it, and everyone jumped on the bandwagon and now people that use the internet to shop a lot, look for it and the other versions ASAP.

Hans.. if you feel your website lacks credibility, why? Do you let them know you are for real? Do you have pictures of yourself or your business on your about us page? If you don’t have a building to show, I’d use your house and some how incorporate your logo on it somewhere
It's hard to believe, but when you’re not a big brand name store, people will read all about you. They love to see pictures!

We hate having all the “about us” , but people love it... I think they realize we are the real deal and that helps ease their minds about the store too.
Hope this helps
Pam

Default Credibility and Conversions

Pam,

Thanks for the response. It has been a while since I took a hard look at some of these threads.

I was having some challeneges with conversions and I thought my credibility was an issue. Turns out I had a lot of other challenges with regards to conversions. I have spent the last couple of months working on the basics with really good results.

Having said all that I agree that the Yahoo badge is somewhat vanilla compared to the Hacker Safe badge.

I have updated my about us page and will continue to do so and probably put a link to the blogs that I have for my website. A lot about Lucy, my Great Dane and about the business comes out in the blogs.

Hi Hans,
Curious if you went with Hacker Safe and your thoughts? Also - if you don't mind sharing, curious about the "basics" you took towards credibility and if you thought they made a difference. We recently redid our about us page - I actually took off the info about me and put it all in our pet's language and am wondering if that was a mistake....so just curious if you think your changes have made a difference.

Carol -
I just checked out your "about us" page after reading your concerns.
First of all... you are a Yahoo store right?... I do not even see the Yahoo security badge showing. I see that you are a Yahoo store, but not anything showing the secure website.
I would at least put that on until you make your mind up about hacker safe.

As for the about us approuch you took.. I love it!!!!!! Very clever, but I feel unfinished.
Where are these pets owners? They own the website right? Get a picture of yourself or an employee with your adorable pets. You have some super cool products, but why aren't your pets playing or wearing any of them in these picture I see?
PEOPLE WILL LOOK BEFORE THEY READ!
Your worried if your website looks safe right? Adding the free Yahoo secuirty thing, and then showing them who's running this safe website, might ease their minds and not make them look for hacker safe.
Pet owners love to see <<<< other peoples pets, so get some of your products on these adorable pets they are looking at so they can say " Oh how cute... I want one for my dog etc etc!
Hope this helps
Pam

Hi Candy Pam - thanks for the suggestion! I will see if I can expand on the about us and products.

Also - we just added the right bar to our site (bestsellers, etc) and SC recommended putting the credit card and yahoo logos there. But i just noticed that the yahoo logo does not have the 128 bit security thing I just noticed. I will see if they can add something or if I can slip it in somewhere else.

Not sure what they are now Karl - but they did give me a discount if I paid for a full year. So if they quote you something, MAKE A DEAL... ha ha
