you might want to take a look at something I have to alert customers of something. SC did this to mine a few months ago. Go to my website, try and order gold chocolate quarters, put into cart.. see what happens when you go to check out then.
I think this is what you are looking for. Yours could be tweeked to give your away for now shipping notice etc!
BTW - how the heck can you pull off not getting back to your customers for such a long period of time. Have you ever charted your conversions while you were away compared to when your there. I think you're taking a big risk they will get nervous and shop elsewhere!
