I think that's a large part of it. From what I've been seeing, Yahoo is trying to stall if not stop the Microsoft bid and maximize stockholder value by testing partnerships like this. The test is only supposed to last about 2 weeks and will only impact about 3% of search results. Yahoo declined comment on what they plan on doing after that.
